I don't have much to say for this trimmer except that it does the job.
Cutting is easy but with paper it can wrinkle and tear it, and because the cutting channel is quite wide, sometimes you end up with a slightly wobbly edge. it also (I don't know if this means I need a new blade or what) leaves a feathery edge, even when i press hard. the trimmer is suppused to be 12" x 12" but it's too small! It curls up the edge of the 12"x12" sheet.
As I said, it does the job, so I'll have to stick to it till i can afford a proper
rotary trimmer!

Not come across that one Molly. I've got a nice (mind you fingers!!!! ) Guillotine one that I bought for an absolute bargain in Hobbycraft a few months ago. Its all metal even the base bit with magnetic guides and of course the safety guard so you do mind your fingers
I've got a Staples own brand roller type one too but it always cuts on the wonk and nothing is ever square!!!! _________________ May you always be in heaven half hour before the Devil knows you're dead

Wow!! bargain. This one from Hobbycraft does up to A3 and cost me £9.99 - its really heavy cos its all metal. Fabbie although does take up quite a bit of room for storing it. _________________ May you always be in heaven half hour before the Devil knows you're dead

Have to say that the reason Molly has the Fiskars trimmer is because I can't get along with it. I bought it when there was very little choice in paper trimmers.
What make is yours Netty. Mines a xcut but its plastic so I like the sound of a metal one. Molly doesn't really like the guillotine one but I think its much better than the rotary ones.
I also find using my omnigrid patchwork rulers and a craft knife really handy and keeps stuff nice and square. _________________ Tracy |

ah paper trimmers. Well a pal of mine just happens to have 15 of the things and on her advice I bought myself the new Woodware fingerguard one. Well I have to say it is the best ever. Changing the blades is a piece of cake, it comes with 2 blades but you can get a box of 8 asst ones and they sell them all separately too. It cuts straight, does not wobble at the top like the Fiskars ones and even cuts like butter through chipboard. It truly is a must. oh and it's easily portable too. My other fave is the big x-cut guillotine.Hope that helps the discussion.
