GOT A GREAT IDEA FOR A NEW SWAP? THEN SHARE IT HEREHave you got a brilliant idea for a great new swap that you would like to see happen on Crafty Swappers? If you have then why not share it with everyone else here and see if a swap can be organised from your idea.
Even if you're not keen on the thought of hosting a swap yourself but have the idea and would be happy for someone to organise the swap. We'd love to hear all your suggestions for great new swap ideas that we could do in the future here on Crafty Swappers.
It doesn't have to be Papercraft based - just look at Molly's fantastic swap for handmade jewellery - a brilliant idea Nice one Mol
Anyway - enough of my waffle. Anything you'd like to see happen as a swap then just chat on this thread . once there's enough interest in a particular idea then an official swap thread can be started by the Swap's Host.

Handmade embellishments?
Altered tin cans?

I like the Altered Tin Can idea. I've got a project in a book here that shows you how to Alter a tin can.

Why does that sort of response from you two not surprise me Good thing you weren't here this morning- we were putting lager into slug traps.

Lucky slugs I like a good dash of lime with my lager - he's just emptied the beer can into a pint glass

does anyone fancy organising a swap along the lines of this lady's work?
http://dotslifeandart.blogspot.com/search/label/tutorial
Either the little doll, or the 1"fabric collage squares would make a great swap, maybe increasing the sizes of the squares if fewer people were involved.

Ooo!! Now SuzieR was making those funny little Dotee dolly thingies over on UKS. I quite like the sound of the Fabric Inchies though. That would make a great swap. That Blog is really interesting Lynne - Thanks for the link.

Funnily enough, I was looking at an old copy of Art Doll Quaterly last night and there were some 'scrap dolls'...very similar to dotee dolls...in there - pretty small, irregular scraps of fabric, stamped, painted, sewn & stuffed which looked interesting...I'd be up for that or the fabric inchies
|
Molsmum
|
I'm up for the fabric inchies, but I'm afraid the dolls do nothing for me - well except give me the willies! Sorry - I know most people love them!

they're like Marmite...definitely an aquired taste
I've never done inchies..so it could be the challenge I'm looking for

lol I surprised myself too, didn't think I'd like them at all!!
Mind you I found some called icicle dolls which are ...well the shape of an icicle lol... and I didn't like those one bit!! But then not keen on any that usually come under the heading of art dolls, just those little ones took my fancy
Found these too, which I think I like Mind you I have a small collection of the wooden ones too

if anyone's interested I found a very simple pattern, which can be easily embelished, enlarged etc etc to suit.

Netty - close your eyes to this suggestion!
How about a smaller jigsaw swap - I have the sizzix puzzle die and could cut and label the jigsaws for everyone to avoid confusion. The die is quite small - about A5 and has 6 pieces, so it would probably be a fast and straightforward swap - famous last words

I'd be interested in this Jigsaw swap, was very jealous originally that I missed out on the other one

Being really greedy ... I like ALL the suggestions above !! Must admit I'd probably use pelmet interfacing.. the stiffish one .. instead of felt for the inchies. It's not as thick as felt and a little firmer to hold the shape better.

Love the fabric inchie idea, and the mini jigsaw swap, in fact thought about buying the jigsaw die myself. How about:
1. a charm swap, will hunt out a link for you
2. Mail Art swap - fabric postcards, 6x4, posted naked ie not in an envelope, will post some sample when I work out how!!
3. Chinese Whispers LO?
|
nettyb
|
I've actually got the sizzix jigsaw die too!!!! - An Inchies jigsaw swap sounds great Oh my what am I saying!!!!
Fabric Inchies - love the sound of those - The Dotee dolls don't do it for me either I'm afraid.
Love the sound of Lou's mail art and I did actually think about a Chinese Whispers ATC Swap sometime - I quite like the sound of that too.
I'll make a list of all the suggestions we've had so far and make them into a sticky at the top of the "Other Swaps" forum. If anyone fancies hosting one of these swaps at some stage then just make yourself a Swap thread and shout!!!!

I don't usually like the Dotee Dolls either, but the Matroyska (?) dolls Lynne W put a link up to were quite cute (not the one with the pattern, they were creepy) I like the idea of fabric inchies, the jigger swap too, and the other swaps I haven't mentioned
Golly, that was a long post

yeah I liked the 'nice' russian dolls too, in fact I've been and bought some stuff to have a play making some:)

would anyone fancy doing another jigsaw swap? its been a while now and we have lots of new members! for those who dont know, the jigsaw swap is where you aquire a chipboard jigsaw and complete a piece of the jigsaw in everyone elses in the groups' themes and then swap them all out. you should end up with 9 pieces which fit back together and create a fabuluous piece of art. this is mine from last time
the one i completed before swapping out:
the one i got back:
it is my fave ever piece of artwork and i would so love another one.
i saw the posts about a smaller sized one, and i have a sizzix die of tiny jigsaw pieces but they are only about an inch in size when cut - is that the right one people were talking about before?
personally i would prefer the bigger size but am happy to go with what others would prefer doing!

Hi.
I would like to know : A while ago, Stickolip (Netty's son, for those that don't know)
started a recipe card swap. I really enjoyed doing it and would like to start it up again, as it was supposed to be an ongoing thing. It was a lot of fun and i thought it was such a pity that it finished so soon; i was wondering if anyone would be interested in taking part.
Thnx
Molly
