Take One Stamp CJ

Due the overwhelming response over on UKS for this CJ that I decided to host I have decided to start another group over here as many who wanted to play couldn't over there Sad cos of those darn rules of theirs Rolling Eyes

Anyhoos.... Anyone want to play? This CJ entails sending around an unmounted rubber stamp with your CJ and each player will enter their interpretation of your stamp in your bookie. It'll be great to see how people use your stamp and how many interesting and different pages you'll get from just one stamp. Fancy it? The sign up below and as always All newbies more than welcome Very Happy

First posting date March 1st 2009 and then each 1st of the consecutive months. Further details will be posted once I know how many we're playing with

nettyb

Hi Lydia,
Welcome to Crafty Swappers Very Happy. Consider yourself added to the list along with new2this who has kindly offered to join us over here:D
pip

Yes please I've done one like this before and loved it.

Pip
leanie

Yay! Found you Very Happy
Sign me up, although I'm not certain what sort of stamp to go for, am trying to think of something people can interpret in many ways...
Thank you again! L xx
nettyb

Welcome to Crafty Swappers Leanie Very Happy Glad you could join us and nice to see you again pip Very Happy. I've added you both to the list. Looks like a nice little group going over here as well. Fabbie - I love it when a plan comes together and we can get the newbies playing along with everyone else Smile

A big passion of mine I'm afraid and so was born the Crafty Swappers Forum  Razz

Will post more details, posting dates etc as and when I know exactly how bigger a group we'll be Very Happy
Wisher

hellllooooo - can I play please?
nettyb

Gill - you found us  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  well Done - TB will be relieved Very Happy

He'll be thrilled though with all these new members joining lately - I'm sure he'll toddle on tomorrow and welcome you all personally - he is a legend around here is TB.

have added your nale to the list
Wisher

ermmmm who is TB?
nettyb

TB - my OH - he's the techie bod on here - I just sent into a mild panic at the thought of trying to retrieve your login details if you hadn't have remembered them. He's having a lay down now!!!  Rolling Eyes
Wisher

oh dear - tell him a BIG hug from me!
nettyb

He's out for the count now - there's no hope of a hug tonight - I'll pass it on tomorrow Very Happy
KJJC

blimey you still up? Thought I was the only insomniac.
mistyrat

This sounds fun please add me too. I haven't a clue on type of stamp yet etc but sure I will come up with something  nearer the time.
nettyb

I'm sure I'll suffer for a late night at some stage during the day today - sill day off work today, little boy finishes at lunchtime from school - so not too much going oln here today.

Mistyrat - nice to see you Smile I shall add you to the list - thanks for joining us Very Happy
leanie

Seems like you're more night owls on this one, lol - I always seem to be the only one up on UKS after 1am!
mummybecks

If there is still room, can I join in, please?
nettyb

Of course you can Jacqui Very Happy. I'll add you to the list and a huge welcome to you from all of us here at Crafty Swappers
leanie

Anyone got any immediate stamp ideas or tips?
Can't decide whether to go with one simple single image, or a multi-element image...
Amullree

Please can I join in, never done anything like this before so any tips would be welcome.
Pam

I'd love to do this too-I'm new to stamping but really want to learn and experiment-so if you are willing to take a risk with me I promise to work hard!!
nettyb

Have added both Amullree and Pam to the list - thank you both for joining in this little CJ Very Happy and of, course Welcome to Crafty Swappers Pam from all of us Very Happy.

As you can now see we have 11 of us in the Group, Is everyone happy playing with 11? It just means that whatever book you decide to use for your CJ then you'll have to remember to add enough pages for everyone.

Well shall we call ourselves FULL then?
Pam

Oh that's great! thanks
How would people feel if I didn't sctually make a CJ? I was thinking that I would like to make  covers eg 6x6 then ask everyone to make any shape pages that I could bind into the cover when it comes home. That way there is complete freedom for any shape of page, any material also. So if you wanted to use transparency you could, if you wanted to do arch shape that's OK too, or a circle, or long and thin, or use a CD etc-all as long as they fit within a 6x6 cover.
I would be happy to send the cardstock, but you would all be able to cut it to any shape, iyswim?
pennyk

Have I missed out on this in this forum aswell Sad Ah well guess it was meant to be- next time then.
nettyb

Oh Penny Sad. If its OK with everyone else I could squeeze just one more little one in on this one and make it a nice round 12 playing.

If thats ok with everyone else?

I SNEAK YOU ONTO THE LIST Very Happy
LydiaRebeckah

12 sounds fine to me! And I love the idea of making different sized pages, so I might do this as well if people are alright with it...
nettyb

Oh yes - sorry I did read about the different size pages - great idea - I love it - especially the transparency Very Happy. Fabbie idea
leanie

All getting very exciting now!
pennyk

Thank you for adding me- now I just got to go to one of my most fave stamp shops -The stamp attic in Wantage Oxon- and Wendy is the most fabbiest person ever, so helpful!- I really recommend her shop to anyone- sorry blatant pushing there LOL.
Pam

so do we need to set some rules for the cj?  any type/ size of stamps?
what about fortnightly postings rahter than monthly? It would be great to have the cj back in 6 months, rather than 12...less time for things to go pear shape!
What about starting FEB 1st, rather than March?
What do others think?
pennyk

I am happy with the march posting as I have a few things to finish - but I will go with the majority.Smile
new2this

I too have things on the go and would prefer March but can manage Feb, at a pinch, if that's what most people want.
Getting the cjs back in six months sounds great BUT if people have more than one cj or swap gong on then two weeks to complete a page is cutting it rather fine, especially if there is a hold up in the post or some such.I think the monthly timing is easier.
nettyb

I would rather stick with March as the first posting as I am on a week long residential training course during January for work and so I'm not going to get a chance to work on mine until February. That was one of the main reasons I gave a March start date.

As for the two weekly posting - again I would prefer the monthly posting cos of work, home and other crafting swap commitments but I'll go with the flow and see what the rest of the group would like.

If everyone could PM their details ie address, telephone contact number, e mail etc then I will sort out the posting list and PM everyone with who they'll be posting onto each month.
mistyrat

I personally would prefer the march start and monthly swap. Gives us more time to design our pages without any stress  Very Happy
Pam

See I am so keen!! But not to worry, I'm happy to stick with the original arrangements.
leanie

I don't mind Feb but think March and monthly would be better as I have one CJ starting in Jan and want to make sure I can devote enough time to the LOs.  But might be up for a fortnightly post starting later in the year once I've got these two underway and am in a routine Very Happy
Amullree

I would prefer to start in March and a montly swap, OH already complains he never sees me I'm always in the back room with my craft stuff!
LydiaRebeckah

I don't really mind, I love the idea of completing it in 6 months but I also think that this way I might worry about getting things done on time, so I'm happy to go with the majority.
KJJC

I'm a march and monthly person too especially as I'm a newbie and haven't a clue what I'm doing. Am hopeing someone will enlighten me!!!!!!Netty? Leannie?
nettyb

I'm here CB. Don't worry I'll point you in the right direction about what to do Very Happy.
leanie

KJJC - If you're the Karen I think you are I've seen your work and there's nothing newbie about that Smile
I'm afraid that when it comes to CJs I'm all mouth no trousers - I've read up on them lots but have never done one Smile
leanie

Merry Christmas everyone!
pennyk

Tell me is there going to be a set size and is it a DLO per person with signing in at back and intro and rules and DLO for the first 4 pages????? Just checking LOL
nettyb

I think the size limit should be set at a maximum of 8" x 8". Any bigger would bump the price of the postage up rather.

Its up to you as per the way you do your own CJ books.

Normally (for the newbies amongst us Smile) you would do a front cover and back cover, the inside of the front cover normally has your address details (just incased its gets lost!!!!!), the next page would be your intro to the CJ theme, likes, dislikes, rules etc, over that page would be your SLO or DLO (upto you whether you want a DLO or SLO) and then blank pages for everyone else to play one ( remember to add enough blanks for DLos or SLOs) then on the inside back cover and facing page would normally be your sign in pages for everyone to add their own signature and details. these can be undecorated or decorated - some people like everyone to decorate their own tag, others decorate them and just ask everyone to sign them. Again, up to you. These can be just tags, ATCs or as novel unique idea as your like.

But, its entirely up to you as per size, style, how you want you CJ to look.
Just remember to enjoy the CJ and have fun Very Happy

If anyone wants any help and advice just shout out.

And please don't forget anyone who hasn't already sent me your name and address etc detals can you please do so so I can sort them out and pass them onto your recipient asap. Many Thanks
leanie

DH bought me a BIA starter kit for Christmas so am eagerly awaiting its arrival to start on my CJ x

I am Leannie. Missed you at the crop on sunday-was hoping you'd enlighten me there.
leanie

Sorry, we got delayed by the weather on the way back so didn't make it... then I was so tired I missed my alarm, logged in at 9 mins past, and found 39 people had all clicked 'submit' at once!
I'm not going away or anything though so will be on reserves at most, and at least there to shop, hope I see you. Unless you're at the Golborne crop on 24th (?) Jan?
nettyb

Evening All,

How are we all doing? Has anyone made a start on their CJs yet? - I've chosen my stamp and my book. I'm planning on using a Tim Holtz Ruler Book - its the 6 x 3 one - only a small one, roughly the same size as a tag so quite a nice size to work on Very Happy

Might make a start on it on my day off this week Very Happy
LydiaRebeckah

sounds like a really good size - where can you buy them from?

Oh, it's so annoying, I've just found the perfect stamp but it is from an american company with no Uk stockists. I cant afford the postage, so I'm back to looking...
nettyb

I bought mine as a job lot from someone on UKS but try That's Crafty (UKS Sponsor) she did have the 6x3 size or Craftystash I know she had ruler bookz aswell
KJJC

nope not given it a thought yet. Should I have done???? oops
leanie

Just bought my stamp yesterday - am waiting to see it in the flesh before working out the size/shape!
Pam

Hi there all,
I'm really sorry but I've a lot on my plate over the next couple of months and am concerned I won't be able to commit the time to this cj that it deserves, so rather than get started, I've decided to withdraw now. That still leaves 10,and that's a good number. Hope it goes well for you all.
nettyb

Oh Pam - sorry to lose you Sad. Maybe we'll see you in another CJ sometime. Thanks for letting me know. Take Care.
Pam

hopefully in the future-thanks for understanding
mistyrat

Has anyone done one of these before as I am struggling to choose suitable stamp. If anyone has and have any photo's or links that might spark off ideas for stamp to use
leanie

I tried to pick one that either I could interpret in many ways, or one that you could ink different sections of for different effects x
new2this

I fell in love with one that, of course, ws out of stock and had to come from Yankeeland ... I hope it will be here in time but can't set a size/shape until I find out!!!  Trust me!

Netty luv, will we be posting in the order of the sign up list? or is it a bit early to pm for an address?
nettyb

Yep - It'll be the order that we're in the list as. I'll sort the addys out over the weekend and get them all PM'd off to you all.

I hope everyone can sort themselves out a suitable stamp - if you're really struggling please let me know. We maybe able to help you with some suggestions Very Happy
sandy2662

am i to late to sign up for this one
LydiaRebeckah

I've found my stamp! It's quite small though, so is everyone OK with working on a smaller scale book?
Wisher

so soory I have been awol - can you believe I totally forgot all about this site! DOH

I have made my CJ - it is in the form of an altered book - hope that is ok by everyone
leanie

Happy whichever you two xx
new2this

I got my stamp today ... from Karen at Scrapz who has gone out of her way to be helpful!!.  It is fairly big so I think I will "trim" it a bit and give everyone leave to use as much or as little as they like!!  All I have to do now is work out how big my book will be, what shape and what to put in it!!!  So no problem!
Wisher

Hi Frances *waves* I am really mortified about the inchies swap - how rude you must have thought me ....sorry!
nettyb

Just waiting for a couple of addy details now and then I shall PM each of you with your Postie Buddie's details that you will be sending onto each month Smile.

How's everyone getting on?
mummybecks

I'll make a start as soon as the UKS cybercrop is over!  CanI just double check that there will be 10 of us taking part?
nettyb

As far as I'm aware there are just 10 of us playing. I'm still waiting to hear from two more with their addy details. If I hear anything different over the weekend I'll let you all know
LydiaRebeckah

arrgh I just really messed up my book - tried to put it through the crop o dile to punch the holes and nudged it, so now I have several wierd interlocking embossed circles instead of one nice clean hole! I'm going to have to start again - loosing the will to live!
nettyb

Oh Lydia, what a shame Sad.  You're not the only one though - one of my other ladies over on UKS has had a disaster with her book and her BIA. She's got to start again as well Sad
nettyb

Just heard from Pennyk and unfortunately she has decided not to take part in this CJ after all Sad.
Looks like there's still ten of us though playing.
KJJC

well I've been playing and I THINK I'm getting the hang of what I'm supposed to do.Have so far done my page several times and still not happy with it tho'. Hope the final one is ok as I'm running out of pages.Going to have a proper play during half term next week.
pip

I'm going to use half term to get started.  I've had a BIA for about six months and all I've done with it is move it from its original box to its lovely blue tote Very Happy This could be the moment I've been waiting for.........

Pip
Wisher

are we sending to the person below us on the list?  My CJ is ready and I need to post it before I go on my hols (wednesday) for a month!!
nettyb

Yep we will all be posting onto the person below us in the list Smile. I will PM everyone today with their postie buddies addy details:)

Please let me know over the weekend if you have (or haven't received their addresses)

Post whenever you're ready Very Happy and Please try to use Recorded Delivery as we don't want everyone's beautiful work to go walk about:(

Oh and don't forget to include your rubber stamp to send around with your CJ Very Happy

Thanks everyone
nettyb

Right with the exception of one person - you should all have received your postal buddies addy details via PM now. You will be posting to this person every month:)

I'm still waiting for one addy and as soon  as I receive that I will let her postal buddy know the details.

Have fun everyone and don't forget to forward the CJ owners rubber stamp on each time with their CJ

Let me know if you haven't received a PM with addy details from me
leanie

Embarassed
Sorry everyone, thought I'd replied then got caught up with lots going on.
Leanne x
Wisher

mine will be in the post tomorrow.  Please don't worry if you don't hear from me to say I have received a journal....I will be going on holiday on Wednesday.  However I have asked the sorting office to hold my parcels (they are very good like that).
leanie

Mine's nearly complete... am really looking forward to getting creative with someone's stamp now - and hoping I've chosen one that's suitably interpretable... The more I think about it, the more I worry!
new2this

Netty, my stamp is part of a large sheet and has several individual "items" on it ... are people allowed to cut these apart to make it easier to use?  I have no objection if they do, but is it against the rules?!!

Almost ready to post ... should make the date if not a little earlier.
mummybecks

Received a CJ and stamp from Wisher today - and mine is nearly, nearly ready!
LydiaRebeckah

Mine's ready to post - my job for tomorrow!
pip

Mine is nearly ready too!

Pip
new2this

Posted mine, recorded/signed for, this lunchtime .
KJJC

Postyed mine to you today Netty and received from Sue too but totally forgot to send it recorded-mind that doesn't actually mean anything tho other than it has to be signed for which if you're not around means you have to get to the PO so are you sure you want us to send recorded. It doesn't insure it.
leanie

I think its more for your proof Karen, although some sites will accept a proof of posting cert instead of recorded, just depends on the host Smile
pip

I've posted my CJ. Sorry the address is a bit informal Leanne but I don't have your surname!

Pip
leanie

It's ok, the postman thinks its funny Very Happy
LydiaRebeckah

I'm afraid I havent managed to post mine today so it might be a tiny bit late...
I recieved one from new2this but I can't find the stamp - could you check in your house because I think you have left it out! If not could you tell me where exactly you put it so I can check for it again?
new2this

You are so right .. the stamp isn't in there!!!  It is sitting , well more like hanging on for dear life, on the corner of one of my storage boxes under the desk!!!  It must have fallen off the desk and got caught half way .... I'll send it on to you tomorrow.  Sooo sorry, huge apologies for the worry.   I put it down to these pesky senior moments.
LydiaRebeckah

Don't worry - I'll bet that I do pretty much the same thing at least once!
pip

I'm in 3 CJs on this forum  -  you could take bets on me sending a journal to the wrong person during the next few months. I just hope I don't do a photo entry in the stamping journal or some other combination Confused

Pip  Rolling Eyes
leanie

Pip - got my CJ today for Take One Stamp, so you definitely sent one to the right place Very Happy
I like the stamp sheet and have lots of ideas Smile
KJJC

yay. Amulree I've just finished yours and I'm actually really pleased with how it turned out. Never used anything like that before so it was a challenge but I'm glad I've done it so thanks for stretching me out of my comfort zone.Just hope you like it cos it's completely different to what you did.Oh the suspense.

Glad you enjoyed doing it, I cant wait to see everyones ideas for that stamp. I still dont know why I bought it!
mummybecks

I'm puzzled, Mistyrat, did it only arrive today?  And did you have to sign for it?  I posted it on Monday morning, supposedly 1st class recorded.  However, I used a little sub-post office instead of the main one ine the centre of town, and I kind of got the feeling that she didn't quite know what she was doing!
